Energy Saving Techniques

Energy saving is part of a world wide and US initiative to reduce the resources available. Reduced energy usage also decreases water usage and depletion.
Our tax dollars have developed an EPA EnergyStar program which is an excellent source for advice how each of us as residents can reduce the usage of power.  This web site has energy saving items from homes to industrial applications.  The key parts of this program that we as residents can contribute and reduce our electric bills are sealing air and duct leaks, adding insulation, using efficient water heaters, programmable thermostats and using Energy Star qualified products such as windows.  The complete information is available on www.environmentandactivities.blogspot.com ..

Here are a few tips:
  • sealing air and duct leaks
  • adding insulation in attics and under floors
  • using efficient water heaters and lowering the hot water tank temperature
  • installation of programmable thermostats
  • Energy Star qualified products such as high efficiency heat pumps, appliances such as refrigerators, windows and others
